Urban chronicles (ongoing project)
Urban Chronicles is an ongoing series of color photographs documenting graffiti, writings, and traces in
Tehran's urban landscape. The images capture ephemeral expressions, political, emotional, or personal,
that appear on walls, murals, and urban objects, some of which are later removed or painted over, leaving
traces of both expression and suppression.
Photographs are taken with neutral framing in natural light, across different seasons, without staging or
intervention. By revisiting locations over time, the project records both the presence and disappearance
of human traces, emphasizing the city's constant transformation.
The series preserves fleeting gestures and inscriptions that might otherwise vanish, highlighting the
tension between permanence and impermanence. It presents a space for observation, inviting viewers to
notice the traces left behind and reflect on the shifting urban environment without imposing narrative or
interpretation.
